The Arkansas Department of Health will offer a state wide back to school immunization clinic on July 30. If your student is in need of any vaccines for the upcoming school year, here is an option.

🏈 Cougar Football Spagetti Dinners 🏈 These events are for football players and parents to get to know each other, as well as ask any questions you may have. TUES (6/4) Varsity team, WED (6/5) Junior High team. Both events will begin at 6 PM in the high school cafeteria.

Lady Cougars Softball Fundraiser on June 7 for 3rd-8th grade girls. Camp will be from 9 AM-12 PM, followed by pitching and catching lessons, 12-1 PM.

The 2024 Youth Shooting Sports State Tournament Bracket is out! On May 31st at 9:30 AM, our Junior High Shooting Sports Team will be competing for the state title. Make plans to come to Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex and support our Junior Boys as they make their way to the finals! Let's show them our support and cheer them on to victory!

We are excited to announce the promotion of Chase Brody to head coach of our football program. Chase recently joined the Cougar football staff as offensive line coach. Chase played wide receiver at William Jewell College and previously coached the offensive and defensive linemen, and the tight ends at Pea Ridge High School. He also was a quarterback in high school at Gravette. Chase is married to Briley and they have one daughter, Charlotte. Athletic Director Kyle McCandlis said, "Former head coach JR Tolleson has decided to return to coaching in college and we are pleased to have a more than capable replacement on staff in Chase Brody. His rapport with our student-athletes and his strong academic background are an asset to our program. I am confident he is the right man to lead our football program into the future."

Wall of Hope Raises Funds for Cancer Cure The Izard County Athletic Department recently spearheaded a heartwarming initiative to support cancer research and treatment. Dubbed the "Wall of Hope," the event saw significant contributions from local businesses, with their names proudly displayed on the west end of the gym wall. The fundraiser successfully garnered $3,000 through the generous donations of the community. This amount was then matched by the First National Bank of Izard County, doubling the total funds raised to an impressive $6,000. First National Bank representatives Jerred King, Adam Jones, and Kayla Hamby presented the check to Izard County Girls Coach David Harmon. The collected funds will be split equally between two renowned medical institutions: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Each will receive $3,000 to support their ongoing efforts in cancer research and patient care. “This event was a true testament to the spirit of our community and we want to thank First National Bank of Izard County for generously stepping up to match all donations raised through the event” said Izard County Girls Basketball Coach, David Harmon. “We are grateful to all the local businesses and individuals who contributed to this cause. Their support will make a significant difference in the fight against cancer.” Thank you to all contributors, including a diverse array of local businesses and individuals: Walling Drug, KSAR, Greg & Rhonda Moss, Cottrells Poodles & Doodles, Jordan’s Kwik Stop, Legacy Hospice, Hatfield Ready Mix, Ruth Welch, Barker Funeral Home, Townsend Spice & Supply, Gene McBride Appraisal Service, Gene McBride Farms, North Central Insurance, Horseshoe Bend Insurance, Izard County Propane, Bank of Salem, Duncan Distributors, United Country Cotham & Company, Hometown Market, and Knockout Exterminators. The Wall of Hope not only raised crucial funds but also heightened awareness about cancer's impact and the importance of supporting research and healthcare facilities dedicated to battling this disease. The success of this event has laid a strong foundation for future community-driven initiatives aimed at making a positive impact in finding a Cure for Cancer.

Congrats to Softball All-Conference recipients: Megan McBride, Quinn Johnson, Katie Orf, Hollie Johnson, and Makensie Yancey! The Lady Cougars' Megan McBride also earned All-State!

Huge congrats to Makaelynn Wood for being the only student, school wide (K-12), to achieve PERFECT ATTENDANCE for the 2023-24 school year!!!

AZ INDUSTRIES of Highland, AR surprised IC STEM third grade students with magnet goodie bags! Thank you AZ Industries for being a valuable community partner!

Izard County Middle school principal, Sarah Burns, and STEM Coordinator, Courtney Selph attended the AR Annual STEM Advisory group meeting today at the Saline County Technical Center. Courtney Selph represented IC STEM Preschool and IC STEM K-4 on the STEM Model school panel session. This was a phenomenal day of STEM networking and guest speakers from across the state including Secretary of Education, Jacob Oliva.
