Lady Cougars Fall To Tuckerman On Walk-Off
Izard County Lady Cougars fell to Tuckerman Lady Bulldogs 4-3 on the final play of the game. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Tuckerman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
The Lady Cougars got on the board in the third inning after Hollie Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run.
Megan McBride took the loss for Izard County Lady Cougars. The pitcher went seven and one-third innings, surrendering three runs on 15 hits, striking out nine and walking two.
Makensie Yancey and Reese Johnson each collected two hits for Izard County Lady Cougars. Reese Johnson, Willow Warden, and Quinn Johnson each drove in one run for Izard County Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cougars play at home tomorrow against Heber Springs Varsity.

Today's #CougarSeniorSpotlight post goes to upcoming graduate, Michael Riggs.
Michael plans to completing his certification for welding and then finding a good-paying job. He says that his favorite memory of his time as a Cougar has been making it to the State Tournament for Bowling. His most impactful teachers have been Mr. Blankenship and Officer Brett... "Mr. B has taught me how to weld and Officer Brett taught me to be a better me."

Big week ahead in Cougar Sports! We've got a lot of baseball and softball, a couple of track meets, a Peewee basketball night, and the annual Senior Showcase. You've got plenty of opportunities to support our student-athletes this week!

Congratulations to the Izard County Cougars and Lady Cougars for their rankings in the final state basketball poll in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette today! The State Champion Lady Cougars finished No. 1 and the Cougars were No. 4. Also, congratulations to Junior Olivia Spray for making the Super Six to Watch in 25-26 on the All Arkansas Preps Team!

The Cougar Baseball team hits the field today in the Forrest T. Wood - Wood Bat Classic hosted by Flippin at Norfork. They play Heber at 12:00 and Norfork at 4:00. Take advantage of this beautiful day and go watch some baseball!

We move the #CougarSeniorSpotlight to upcoming 2025 graduate Josie Lynn Morgan!
Josie is in the Cougar Band and BETA Club and is a member of the Quiz Bowl and Lady Cougar Softball teams. She's also the Vice President of FBLA.
When asked about her favorite memory, she said it was attending the 2025 BETA Convention trip. Her favorite teacher is band director, Mr. Phillips. She said, "He always pushed me in the right direction, and was the key person in my journey of learning and performing music."
Congratulations, Josie! We wish you all of the best in your next journey!

Today we'll kick off our #CougarSeniorSpotlight series in which we'll highlight each Senior from the class of 2025 between now and graduation. We start with Hollie Johnson!
Hollie is an active student at ICHS. She plays both volleyball and softball. In volleyball she has been named to the All-State tournament team and Baxter Bulletin All-Area Team. In softball she has been named All-Conference. She is also a member of the CHASE and FBLA organizations.
When asked about her favorite memory as a part of Cougar Nation, she says it's making it to the State Tournament.
After graduation, Hollie plans to begin college to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
We're proud of you, Hollie! We look forward to seeing what all you accomplish in your next chapter.

Cash Arnhart hit two home runs and drove in seven as the Izard County Cougars defeated Mammoth Spring 19-0 this afternoon.
The Cougars had a 17 run first inning coming from singles from Caiden Wiseman (2 RBIs), Tyler Morehead (1 RBI) and Kade Yancey (1 RBI), doubles from Xander McCandlis (2 RBIs) and Yancey (2 RBIs) and a grand slam from Arnhart. Dawson Beard, Braxton McCandlis, and Wiseman all drove in runs after being hit by pitches. Another home run from Arnhart added two more runs in the third inning.
Porter Burton earned the win on the bump today. He gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking none.
The Cougars tallied 12 hits and 8 stolen bases in the game and had incredible patience at the plate that led to six walks in the game. They had no errors in the field.
They'll be back in action on Thursday afternoon for a conference match up with Cedar Ridge.
Great work today, Cougars!

School will dismiss at 1 PM on Tuesday, then we will host Parent Teacher Conferences from 2-6 PM. Be sure to ask teachers and staff about the designated area for lost and found items 🙂

Izard County STEM Senior Quiz Bowl is the 2A Northcentral Regional Runner-up, posting a 4 - 1 record on the day. They advance to the 2A State Tournament on April 12 at Murfreesboro.
Carson Mahan was named Tournament High Point Player, averaging 7.4 toss-ups per game. Harrison Oss contributed 3 toss-ups per game, and Freshman Evan Cole chipped in 2.2 per game.
It was a great day for all team members including: Chris Densford, Matthew Thielemier, Brayden Pruitt, Jacob Kodrich, Allie Hatman, Alex Millington, and Craven Brewer.

Students interested in joining the shooting sports team, who have not already completed the Hunters Education requirement, are encourage to do so on Saturday, March 15, at Ozarka College. Sr High chess competed in the Northcentral Educational Coop chess tournament today and earned 1st place. Caden Trautt finished first individually and Caleb Johnson finished 3rd, both going undefeated. Others participating were Jacob Stone, Xander McCandlis, Joey Conway, and Carson Mahan.
The junior high team finished 6th in their division. Those participating were Nic Johnson, Richard Moser, Kevin Cap, Tristan Logan, and Gavin Williams.
