The Izard County Cougars defeated the Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds, 73-58, on December 30 to win the Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament at the Convocation Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The Lady Cougars (19-4) avenged a championship game loss last season to the Greyhounds (15-7) with the victory. Junior Kennedy Cooper and sophomore Harley Thomason led the Lady Cougars with 20 and 14 points, respectively. Abby Meredith led the Greyhounds with 28 points. Cooper and sophomores Sam and Jen King were named to the NEA All Tournament Team for the Lady Cougars. The Lady Cougars led 26-16 after one quarter, 48-36 at the half, and 59-47 after three quarters. |
